Important Security Announcement

Travelport has recently become aware of apparent attempts to defraud certain travel agencies. There are reports that several travel agencies in North America and Europe have received phone calls from individuals representing themselves as either GDS or travel supplier representatives and asking for information about:

  • Recent bookings made
  • Credit cards used in transactions
  • System login user IDs, travel agency identifiers, and passwords
  • Other secure information that is known only by the agency.

We want to make you aware of these incidents so that you can take appropriate precautions. Such precautions include advising your agents about the recommended means of dealing with a caller requesting confidential or private information.

Should you receive a call similar to those described above or that you believe is suspicious, please obtain the caller's contact information and report the incident immediately to us through your usual service and support process. You should also consider contacting your local law enforcement.

Travelport is committed to protecting the security of the personal data about your customers. We encourage you to remain vigilant to any threats to your information security.

Travelport partners with the Millennium Foundations MASSIVEGOOD Solidarity Movement to Help Finance Health Care for Worlds Poor

Porter Airlines to Charge for Passive PNRs!!!

Porter Airlines became a basic booking participant in Travelport this summer allowing you to easily shop, price and book Porter Airlines in all of the Travelport GDSs. As part of the Porter Airlines agreement, you receive:

  • Access to all Porter Airlines content through the Travelport GDSs
  • Porter Airlines itineraries returned as alternate itineraries in all Travelport GDS shopping requests
  • Support for negotiated fares
  • Standard ticketless processing
  • Guaranteed fares as Porter Airlines honors fare discrepancies where agents have properly documented the fare in the PNR

With all of these benefits at your fingertips of the travel agent, Porter Airlines is now preparing to implement another step in their commitment to the agency and GDS channel and plans to begin charging for passive PNRs sometime before the end of 2009. (the actual implementation date will be communicated at a later date) With full content in the GDS, ease of booking and ticketing, there are no reasons for agents to book Porter Airlines outside of the GDS.

Travelport in the News

Here's a recap of items about Travelport that were recently in the news.

Travelport Named the Best GDS in Asia Pacific

Travelport has been named "Best GDS" in the Asia Pacific region, receiving the coveted Travel Supplier Award at the 20th Annual TTG Travel Awards Ceremony and Gala Dinner held in September. The Awards were voted by TTG readers over a two month period from 8 June to 7 August 2009.

"It is an honor to receive this Award because it is an industry endorsement of our technology and innovation, and reflects our commitment to meeting the needs of agents across the region. Over the past 12 months we have been focused on assisting our customers in improving efficiencies, boosting productivity and driving revenues," said Simon Nowroz, President and Managing Director, Asia Pacific, Travelport GDS.

Apple Vacations Completes Successful Conversion to Travelport

Recently Apple Vacations, the largest tour operator in North America, completed its full conversion from Sabre to Travelport for its Worldspan system. Through the five-year agreement, Travelport's Worldspan platform has become Apple Vacations preferred GDS, providing access to traditional air, rail and hotel content as well as the added ability to book low cost air content.

Jeff Mullen, executive vice president, Apple Vacations, commented, "We made the conversion to Travelport for many reasons but chief among these is that the Travelport team invested considerable time in analyzing our business and consulting with us beforehand and during, to ensure they understood our goals and challenges. Travelport has definitely delivered functionality and advanced technology that we simply did not have previously, that enables our agents to increase productivity and efficiency."

Added Mullen from Apple Vacations, "For example, we've seen a huge decrease in the number of entries it takes our agents to search and find the best itinerary and pricing options, going on average from eight entries now down to just one. We are very pleased with how Travelport handled the conversion – they've been very responsive and it has been very smooth and an astounding success."

Travelport GDS Named to InformationWeek 500 List of Top Technology Innovators

Global travel technology provider Travelport GDS achieved the rank of 11 on the 2009 InformationWeek 500, an annual listing of the nation's most innovative users of business technology.

InformationWeek identifies and honors the nation's most innovative users of information technology with its annual 500 listing, now in its 21st year, and also tracks the technology, strategies, investments and administrative practices of America's best-known companies. The InformationWeek 500 rankings are unique among corporate rankings as they spotlight the power of innovation in information technology, rather than simply identifying the biggest IT spenders.
